The APAC Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing payroll operations for approximately 150 employees across multiple countries in the APAC region, including Australia, China, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Taiwan, ensuring accurate and timely payments while adhering to local laws and regulations.
This role involves processing payroll, managing vendors and employee data, handling tax obligations, and potentially assisting with audit responses.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Accounting, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant payroll processing experience, with demonstrated knowledge of the regulatory environment related to payroll, leaves, and time off.
- Strong technical proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced competency in Excel and working knowledge of Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Bilingual, with professional proficiency in English.
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax filings and payments.
- Experience working with multiple payroll vendors and various processing methods.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team and matrix structure, bringing a sense of urgency to tasks.
- Superior attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others, creating partnerships with vendors, management, colleagues, and the rest of the Human Resources function.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously while maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Maintain highly confidential information with the utmost integrity (non-negotiable).
Responsibilities
- Manage payroll, including bi-weekly and/or monthly payroll, month-end close processes, and quarter- and year-end support.
- Deliver payroll across APAC smoothly by ensuring activities are undertaken to adhere to committed deadlines.
- Monitor and maintain country-specific knowledge repositories pertaining to your region, collaborating with multiple teams across the organization.
- Review business processes and work towards continually improving delivery and enhancing customer satisfaction.
- Respond to and resolve payroll issues.
- Undertake pricing negotiations with partners, where required.
- Perform reporting and analysis on complex projects, including calculation updates, special reports, tax amendments, company setup, troubleshooting, and more. Research historical data, determine adjustments, and use online tools to make corrections.
