Cloud FinOps Analyst

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented FinOps Analyst who will report to the Cloud FinOps Director and contribute to our journey of innovation and analytical maturity.

The Cloud FinOps Analyst supports the reporting, analysis, and communication of financial performance and forecast outlook for company-wide cloud spending. The selected candidate will provide financial insights to finance, technology, and business operations, as well as develop budgets, forecasts, and maintain cloud cost management performance indicators (KPIs), promoting transparency and optimization.

Responsibilities

• Lead FinOps efforts in cloud product deployment projects, services, and R&D.
• Provide financial support for budget reconciliation, variance analysis, and gap analysis.
• Oversee the monthly close process, including journal entries and variance analysis between actuals and forecasts/budgets.
• Deliver high-quality financial analysis using tools like MS Power BI and spreadsheets.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, cost control weaknesses, or potential risks.
• Partner with engineering and finance teams to identify opportunities to improve the chargeback process and implement effective solutions.
• Develop and maintain automated chargeback workflows to enhance efficiency.

Requirements

• Ideally, 6+ years of experience in financial planning, accounting, cost management, and data analytics, but candidates with less experience will also be considered.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Strong skills in mathematics, finance, analytics, or statistics, with the ability to manage anomalies.
• Familiarity with cloud cost management and practices such as showback and chargeback.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation.
• Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Knowledge of accounting policies and SOX controls.

Nice-to-have

• Experience with data visualization and analytical tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Power Query, DAX, MDX).
• Exposure to Apptio Cloudability and SAP.
