Overview
The Cloud FinOps Analyst is responsible for managing, analyzing, and optimizing cloud and SaaS spend across Azure, AWS, GCP, Snowflake, and other platforms.
The role works closely with Finance, Cloud Engineering, Platform Operations, Product, Security, and Business teams to improve cost transparency, financial accountability, and the business value of cloud investments. It also supports budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, reporting, governance, and optimization in line with the FinOps Framework.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Analyze cloud usage and spend across accounts, subscriptions, services, and platforms.
- Identify and track cost optimization opportunities, including idle or overprovisioned resources, savings plans, reserved instances, and commitments.
- Partner with Technology teams to right-size workloads and implement cloud cost optimization best practices.
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, KPIs, and data visualizations for Finance, Product, and Technology stakeholders.
- Prepare cloud budgets and monthly/quarterly forecasts at team, project, and product levels.
- Monitor actual spend against budgets and forecasts, explain variances, and support annual and long-term financial planning.
- Manage cost allocation, chargeback/showback processes, invoice reconciliation, and month-end journal entries.
- Perform regular and ad-hoc financial, historical, and comparative analyses, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
- Improve reporting and operational efficiency through automation and data-driven solutions.
- Support predictive analytics and AI-driven models for cloud spend forecasting, budgeting, anomaly detection, and cost optimization.
Requirements
- Experience with cloud and cloud cost management platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake, and Cloudability.
- Strong knowledge of cloud cost management, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and cost allocation.
- Experience with reporting and data visualization tools, particularly Power BI.
- Working knowledge of SQL and Power Query.
- Experience with or strong interest in predictive analytics and AI-assisted forecasting.
- Ability to analyze cloud spending patterns and identify cost optimization opportunities.
- Strong interest in AI-enabled tools such as Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio.
